Soft billowing plants spill over the stone and pebble paths that weave through this front garden. Hollyhocks self-seed in the gravel; lavender, thyme and roses scent the entrance; and irises bring splashes of colour to complement the front door. A little bit of wildness comes to town.
The sunny front garden in this RIBA award winning house is inspired by Italian courtyards. Cor-ten steel edging and pebbles create a sense of geometry around the focal point of a Cercis siliquastrum (Judas tree). Yew hedging and an Iroko screen enclose the garden, creating a private space to be enjoyed every day of the year.
