Down To The River, Hertfordshire

Located next to a river, the boardwalk and curved seating area provide a social space, with a fire bowl with a flat grill surround for cooking. From here the timber boardwalk curves through grasses and irises to the jetty. Planting is soft and flowing with moisture loving plants, willow trees and some dramatic Gunnera. The design is a sensitive approach to working near the river’s edge. Minimal concrete is used in the design and a new oak revetment with native river plants was added on the waters edge. This is phase one of the garden development, with the second completing in 2024.
