This garden had solid structural elements but needed a planting scheme to enhance the mature Rhododendrons and enliven the area closest to the house
A sweeping path leads to a wishing well originally brought to England in the 30’s by the previous owner. A surprise underground bomb shelter underground has been left intact, with a seating area created on top.
Curved Yew hedging next to the dining terrace provides a soft shelter for the seating, and frames the view of the well from the house. Taller yew hedging behind the well screens the utility area.
Step-over apples, lavender and irises line the main path. The buxus edged borders combine perennials and trees, screening the neighbours and providing colour year round.
